This is the "Kitty Garden" in the winter. Attached to the house so that I can watch them play through the sliding glass doors, they can feel as if they are "outside". The garden has fresh water dripping into their little pond, things to climb and jump on, and, best of all, places where they can sun themselves or watch birds, an activity which keeps them happy for hours. The birds who amuse them so, are completely safe and seem to delight in getting as close as they can to the screen.
In addition to the HOME KITTIES, you will see the "dumped" and abandoned kitties. Some have been brought here, some have been rescued from catteries, some are picked up in places you would rather not know about, and some are found in the barn, out in the brush starving, or, this year, giving birth in one of the horse trailers (a polydactyl black mom and seven kittens!). I have them all tested, spayed, nuetered, vaccinated and then they integrate into the house, the kittiy apartments and the kitty garden, becoming part of the "family".
Watch for the kitties' best friend and playmate, our star boarder and favorite house rabbit, Prince Huckleberry. |
