FRECKLES AND KITTY FRIENDS
This is a picture of "Freckles" the Purebred Australian Cattle Dog

I adopted her after she had been abandoned by her owners when they found out that she was deaf.  I am grateful to my veterinarian, Marilee, who cared for her while she tried to find her a home.  A deaf dog has very special needs, is always at risk, and it looked as if she wasn't going to be placed until I met her.  This bouncy, bright and beautiful dog has become my constant companion.  Well protected here at the Sanctuary, with 20 safe acres to run off her boundless energy, she is thriving.  Freckles seems to think that she is here to take care of ME, and will not let me out of her sight.  Needless to say, she has become well integrated into the menagerie of horses and kitties. It is not unusual to see her sound asleep with several Bengals curled up around her (little heat seeking furballs that they are).

She is, of course, very sight oriented, and keeps one eye on me at all times.  Even with her handicap, I would never  be able to grab the keys to the Suburban and make it out the door before she caught me.  Well, why would I want to go anywhere without her?
