Special Project:
SHARE-CROW!
At our October meeting, we built a "Sharecrow".
Using the guidelines from "Ranger Rick" nature magazine for children, we built and placed him in the site of the future wildlife garden area outside of our Grange Hall.
Not only was the project fun, but we have begun to attract birds to the wildlife area by putting our special bird feed in his basket, all around him on the ground, and in his hollow head where the birds feed right out of his big snaggle-tooth smile..

This spring we will begin clearing debris to encourage the native plants that provide natural food for wildlife, but will also plant "wildlife friendly"  native and ornamental plants for our wild animal and bird friends.

If you visit our Grange Hall, you can't miss him!

Pastor Mike, from the Manton Community Church right next door, told a funny story about taking his dog,  "Dusty" for a run the morning after we put up our sharecrow.  It seems they started out from the church and were crossing the parking lot of the Grange Hall, when Dusty suddenly stopped and started barking.  Pastor Mike looked up and saw "some stranger" standing over by the oak trees.  It took him and Dusty a  minute to figure out that the Junior Grange had been busy the day before, and that the "new guy" was going to be there for awhile!
